AT THE HOME OF SAMMLUNG PETERS-MESSER
My home is my Art Castle – The magazine "Wohndesign" visited art collector Florian Peters-Messer in his home in Viersen


Viersen is not exactly a place where one would expect great art, unlike nearby Düsseldorf. And yet it is in the small town between Mönchengladbach and Krefeld that, with around 450 works, one of the most important collections of socially critical and political art in the German-speaking world is to be found. Florian Peters-Messer has collected them over the past twenty years and is showing parts of them in his private rooms. He also regularly equips exhibitions with works by artists such as John Bock, Monica Bonvicini, Sophie Calle, Elmgreen & Dragset, Sophia Süssmilch and Sonja Yakovleva. From the outside, however, there is nothing to suggest that the multi-storey office building with the striking red facade parts is a real art treasure...
